Seal of Biliteracy
The Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT) is pleased to continue the service started by WAFLT and the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) since 2011 to support school districts that would like to offer World Language proficiency testing to their students. WAFLT provides support for Small-Scale Testing (for small districts) and for WAFLT Custom Tests for less commonly taught/tested languages. Visit World Language Credit Testing to learn more. Through this language testing, students may earn from 1 to 4 Competency-Based Credits in a language they know, and possibly qualify for the State Seal of Biliteracy at high school graduation.
ANNOUNCEMENT August 2018: WAFLT is pleased to announce the new national Global Seal of Biliteracy initiative which will allow students at the Intermediate Mid and Advanced levels to a have special recognition:
"The Global Seal of Biliteracy meets or exceeds the requirements of all existing U.S. state Seal programs, and offers a uniform standard to recognize language skills at levels that are meaningful for academic and workplace environments. It allows recipients to showcase their language skills to any school or employer across state lines and national borders. The Global Seal of Biliteracy is proof of your language proficiency at the Intermediate Mid or Advanced Low levels. The Global Seal of Biliteracy will be available starting January 1st, 2019." https://www.globalsealofbiliteracy.net/
