Seal of Biliteracy
The Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT) was one of the key partners advocating for the legislation that passed in 2014 that established the Washington State Seal of Biliteracy.
To learn more about how WAFLT supports the State Seal of Biliteracy and the new national Global Seal of Biliteracy initiative, please visit our new website dedicated to WAFLT Assessment Services:
Learn more about the State Seal on the OSPI World Languages Seal of Biliteracy web page.
To help lower costs for smaller school districts in Washington State, the Washington Association for Language Teaching (WAFLT) has limited supplies of Seal of Biliteracy medallions. Small districts can order here at a cost of $5 each (includes mailing costs). Please order at least two weeks ahead to allow for processing and delivery. If you have any questions, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Note: Only high school graduates in public schools in WA can earn the State Seal of Biliteracy. But we encourage students in independent schools or home schoolers to pursue the Global Seal of Biliteracy.
