Support for Partnerships
The Washington Association for Language Teaching stands in support of the State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction’s international partnership agreements with other countries. These agreements come in the form of Memoranda of Understanding (MOU’s) and Friendship Agreements. Examples include:
China (through the Confucius Institute of the State of Washington - CIWA)
France (through the Académie de Nantes in France)
Japan (through the Hyogo Business & Cultural Center)
Kingdom of Spain (through the UW Center for Spanish Studies)
These agreements are foundational in attracting and supporting guest teachers from other countries. These agreements provide vital cultural interaction in Washington state schools. They help prepare Washington students to be global citizens and provide Washington state teachers with the global connection they need to be effective in the 21st century.
